History
According to what scientists know, Tenochtitlan was founded by the people in 1325 and by the early 1400's, it became a very important city. Later on, Tenochtitlan became the booming capital of the aztec empire, and by 1502, the aztec empire was at the very pinnacle of its power. But in 1519, under the rule of Emperor Montezuma II, the aztec empire was attacked by Hernan Cortes, a spanish conquestidor. By 1521, Hernan Cortes had completely obliterated the aztec empire, and soon after, the once great city of Tenochtitlan was destroyed.
Impact
Although the aztec people dissapeared long ago, they left a very lasting mark on the Mexican culture. Today, thousand of people in mexico are descendents from the aztec people and many more speak their language of Nahuatl. Even the countries of Acapulco and Mexico derive from the aztecs form of language. Even the words chocolate, avocado, and tomato in english
